Comrade Paolo Babini is not a criminal.
STATEMENT OF THE CENTRAL ORGANISING COMMITTEE OF THE COMMUNIST PARTY MARXIST KENYA (CPMK)
The Central Organising Committee of the Communist Party Marxist Kenya issues this unequivocal, militant and uncompromising statement in response to the ongoing political repression in Italy directed against Comrade Paolo Babini of the CARC Party.
We condemn in the strongest possible terms the raid carried out by the Italian police on the home of Comrade Paolo Babini in Florence, accompanied by the fabricated accusations of “terrorism” and “subversive association”. This is not a legal procedure. This is not justice. This is political repression in its naked and brutal form, deployed by the bourgeois state apparatus against organised revolutionary politics and working class resistance.
This action cannot be understood in isolation. It must be situated within the historical continuity of the Italian ruling order, which carries the ideological and institutional remnants of fascism. The current governing formation under Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is rooted in the political lineage of Brothers of Italy, a party whose ideological ancestry can be traced to the post war neo fascist Italian Social Movement, itself formed by elements who sought to reorganise and preserve the legacy of Mussolini’s defeated fascist regime under new conditions.
This is the historical soil from which today’s repression emerges. It is not a break with the past but a transformation of its form. The symbols may have changed, the language may have softened, but the class content of the state remains intact.
The present repression against communists and revolutionary organisations in Italy is therefore not accidental. It is deliberate. It is structural. It is class based. It is the bourgeois state acting in defence of imperialist order when confronted by organised dissent, political clarity, and working class resistance.
The Italian state is once again revealing its historical essence when faced with communist organisation. It criminalises dissent. It manufactures accusations. It mobilises the police apparatus to intimidate, isolate and silence revolutionary forces. But history has already passed judgment on such methods. They do not extinguish struggle. They intensify it. They expose the system. They deepen resistance.
The Communist Party Marxist Kenya declares:
1. Full, unconditional and militant solidarity with Comrade Paolo Babini and the CARC Party.
2. Total rejection of the criminalisation of communist, working class and anti imperialist political organisation in Italy and across Europe.
3. A call upon all anti imperialist, working class and progressive forces in Kenya to recognise this attack as part of a global and coordinated pattern of repression against organised struggle.
4. A reaffirmation that the struggle against imperialism, fascism and bourgeois dictatorship is international in character, unified in substance, and destined to victory through organisation and conscious political struggle.
We remind all comrades and all oppressed peoples that repression is never a sign of strength. It is a symptom of crisis. When the ruling order fears ideas, it turns to coercion. When it fears organisation, it turns to police violence. When it fears the future, it clings desperately to the instruments of the past.
But the working class learns through struggle. The working class organises through experience. The working class does not forget, and it does not forgive.
From Nairobi to Florence, from Africa to Europe, from the oppressed nations to the industrial centres of capital, the struggle is one. The enemy is one. And the answer remains unchanging.
Organise. Resist. Advance.
The whole world united against fascism, against imperialism.
